Oil paintings
Helen began her artistic career working in the sculpture studio at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, moving on to become a graphic designer and then production manager for a commercial printer in New York. She became primarily an oil painter specializing in portraits and landscapes after moving to Flemington NJ to raise her family. She now has fully embraced plein air painting, finding her environs both inspiring and beautiful, while continuing work in her studio.
Helen has won awards, participated in numerous juried shows, plein air events and exhibitions along the East Coast. She is a board member and cofounder of ArtventureNJ, a local non-profit group focused on promoting art, connecting with fellow artists and exploring creativity. She is also a former board member of the Upstairs Gallery, PA. She has been teaching for over 20 years and derives great pleasure in being able to bring out the creative spirit in others by sharing her knowledge and helping aspiring artists achieve their goals. She feels especially fortunate to have come from a family who encouraged the arts and music and, being one of ten children, from a lively and competitive home. Helen studied at the University of Maryland, Parsons School of Design and the New School in New York. She has been represented by Nagy Gallery, PA; Clinton Art and Frame, NJ; Visions Gallery, NJ and the Upstairs Gallery, PA. Juried shows include “The Ellarslie Open” at the Trenton Museum, NJ; Phillips Mill, PA and Philadelphia Tri-State Artists Show among many others.
